Our Renfrew Victoria Hospital Nephrology Centre was opened in 2015 and offers life-saving dialysis for our community patients. To have this patient care, close to home has been so impacting for our dialysis patients who often spend hours a day, several days a week receiving treatments. The opportunity to have this specialized care, close to home is life-changing. The availability of dialysis treatments close to home means our community patients no longer have to spend hours driving to the city every day to receive care.
Treatment protocols are lengthy and often, which means not only are the patients spending long hours in hospital but so are their caregivers. The RVH Healing Garden provides a place of solitude for caregivers to wait for their loved ones but currently the main area of the Healing Garden is on the other side of the hospital so we want to expand the Healing Garden to encompass the Nephrology entrance and provide indigenous elements to the garden for our First Nations patients.
The RVH Foundation team had the opportunity to tour Regional and local managers from RBC, show our incredible facilities and services here at RVH and to explain our plan and passion to expand our Healing Garden to provide access for our Nephrology patients and their caregivers closer to the Nephrology Department.
RBC was extremely supportive and have made a $10,000 commitment towards the design, development and installation of the RVH Nephrology Healing Garden.
We cannot Thank RBC enough for their support and their enthusiasm for our Healing Garden and the importance that a tranquil space can mean to our patients and caregivers.
Design plans are currently being completed with work hopefully being started in the Fall of 2024.
THANK YOU RBC!
